Steve McClaren
One manager we haven't been linked with as usual is Steve McClaren. Doing really well with Derby and plays good football. I was just wondering what people's thoughts on him are? A good fit for West Ham? Or a joker?

Well, I suppose he did select Scott Carson, so on that count I would agree.

Benitez is dropping strong hints about a return to scouseland, so it could just happen Rodgers might be available.

Always thought Rodgers would have been a great fit for us.

Unlikely, but a poor end to season with Pool and I'd love for us to go for him.

Ignore the last post.

''A British manager will not do this time...this is probably the worst time in history for British managers - and for good reason...they are outdated, greedy and possess neither the intelligence or sophistication of the foreign managers coming in. Allardyce once made the Allardici quip, but in reality that is absolute nonsense. He does not play entertaining football and will not ever reach the top playing to stats and percentages. Paying fans won't tolerate it - why would they? Arsenal under George Graham was one thing, but will he be remembered like Arsene Wenger? The same can be said for 99% of other British managers in the Prem - Pulls, Hughes, Pardew etc. Only Rodgers seems to want to create an identity. Now he is confident in the knowledge that if it goes wrong at Liverpool, there will always be another club & set of fans with the same ideals who are willing to suffer defeat in order to play football in the way it was intended - on the floor'

Good post and I totally agree with what you say about Rodgers, but can't agree on fans 'suffering defeat' if you play good stuff every week but lose 2-3 supporters will soon get fed up.

Decent manager but as has been said, would fold like a deckchairs the moment things got sticky. Just not a good fit for the club and he ish, how you shay, ginger.

Turned us down twice. Once when we didn't even ask him. Went to Forest instead and did fuck all. Done ok at Derby but still might miss out on promotion.

Don't rate him really, wouldn't suit us at all. Ideal for Newcastle though.

Also, his hair makes me feel uncomfortable.

Some of the names being suggested are a bit scary to be honest. We sold our soul to get to where we are - now we need to try go regain it.

This next appointment is by far the most important in our history. Does Sullivan have the courage to appoint someone with vision for the future? Or will he play safe and be happy with 10th place every year whilst waiting to cash his chips when the Arab/America/Chinese billionaire comes knocking? All will be revealed soon enough.

As far as I am concerned he is ruled out of consideration on that basis that he turned us down previously for Middlesbrough.

Those that get their opinion from the tabloids would obviously be against it
